Janet Jackson Considers Indie Route for Next CD PDF Afdrukken E-mail
Janet JacksonJanet Jackson says she’s considering signing with an independent music label to handle her future releases.

The singer, who ended her contract with Island Records in 2008, has expressed she wants to maintain control over the material she produces.

“All the major labels have called and they want to sit down and talk about me signing,” she told The Mirror. “But I need to figure out if that’s the route I want to take or if I want to do something more independent.”

She added that she is still weighing her options to decide what would be best for her career.

“The latter might be better, where I’d be able to call the shots when creating my own album. I haven’t decided,” she explained.

R. Kelly’s New Single ‘When A Woman Loves’ PDF Afdrukken E-mail
R. KellyWe all know that R. Kelly is one certified freaky dude, but like the late, great Marvin Gaye, he’s also been gifted with an introspective spiritual side. Who else could write “Feelin’ On Yo’ Booty” and turn around create the beautiful and uplifting “I Believe I Can Fly?”

Well, we think he’s done it again with his new single “When A Woman Loves.” No, maybe it’s not a lofty as “I Believe I Can Fly,” but it sure feels good and he sounds terrific. It’s like he’s channeling his inner Percy Sledge.

Yes, we still have mucho reservations about the messenger, but we love the message.

Janet Jackson To Release 'ICON' Hits Album August 31 PDF Afdrukken E-mail
Janet JacksonWith 34 number one records in her repertoire, R&B/Pop star Janet Jackson will release a greatest hits album August 31. One of the biggest-selling recording artists in the world, the Grammy winner's previous compilation albums and CDs have been giant hits, her 1995 double platinum Design Of A Decade 1986/1996 and last year's #1's.

The new project, dubbed ‘Janet Jackson – Number Ones – Icon,’ brings together 11 of the superstar's #1 hits -- 10 of them gold or platinum -- and the newly released "Nothing" from the film Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too?, which stars Janet.

Also, "Nothing," which Jackson composed, was recently cited by Variety as one of two motion pictures songs of 2010 to date considered to be strongly in the running for Oscar nomination.

‘Janet Jackson – Number Ones – Icon’ spans more than 20 years, from 1986's gold "What Have You Done For Me Lately" to her 2009's "Make Me," a song which Jackson debuted that year in tribute to her brother Michael at the MTV Video Music Awards and which quickly shot to #1 on the Dance chart.

The hits album is part of the new Icon series of albums from Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) featuring the greatest hits, signature tunes and fan favorites of the most popular artists in music history.

Janet Jackson on ‘Cathartic’ Scene in ‘Married Too’ PDF Afdrukken E-mail
Janet JacksonJanet Jackson says smashing up a house with a golf club – even for the purpose of a film – was “cathartic” in the wake of her brother’s death.

The singer/actress threw herself into her work in the aftermath of Michael Jackson’s death from acute Propofol intoxication last June and admits she found filming one scene in her latest movie “Tyler Perry’s: Why Did I Get Married Too? particularly helpful in dealing with her grief.

“Bashing up that stuff with the golf club, I enjoyed that. I needed it and it came at the right time,” she told the Daily Record newspaper. “After reading the script and then going through what had happened in my own family, I was really thankful for the opportunity to completely let go of some things, to just unleash.”

Janet, 44, was working on the film - in which she plays a grieving mother – at the time of Michael’s death, and flew back to the set the day after his funeral.

“I left the service that night, jumped on a plane, and was on set the next day,” she said. “Life goes on. You have to as well. You can’t just stop. It’s not healthy.”
